My Prayer Song

Each day I wake up with a new hope in my heart,

And say a small prayer before I start;

I first thank God for my love and for life,
For the peace and also for the strife;
I pray for the strength to live each day,
To hold my fears and weaknesses at bay;
I ask for knowledge to know the right from wrong,
For wisdom to understand when to give up & when to hold on;
I plead for forgiveness for the selfishness in me,
To open my eyes so that the needy I may see;
I seek the peace which I may share,
To reach the unreached and provide them with care;
And last of all I ask for the gift of love which succeeds all,
To open my ears and help me heed my Saviour's call.
